Compatibility
HTML 3.2, 4, 4.01, XHTML 1.0, 1.1
Internet Explorer 2, 3, 4, 5, 5.5, 6
Netscape 2, 3, 4, 4.5-4.8, 6, 7
Opera 4-7
Notes
The <small> element can be used multiple times to decrease the size of text to a greater degree. Using more than six <small> elements together doesn't make sense because browsers currently only support relative font sizes from 1 to 7. As style sheets become more common, this element might fall out of favor.
The default base font size for a document typically is 3, although it can be changed with the <basefont> element.
